murphy's law...

This holiday weekend my parents decided to go to Mumbai for a short trip. I was to go too. But for some end moment official commitments I had to drop out. So I was home alone and responsible for the house. The first night I spent by myself and on the second night a friend came over. The next day I decided to go over to a friend's place for the night. I had informed my dad of the plan the previous day and it so happened that he din't exactly register what I was saying.

So anyways, I left home on Saturday afternoon and came back on Sunday evening. I called up my parents to find out where they were (they drove down to mumbai...). They were roughly about two hours away from home. Anyways I fished out my keys and entered the house. What I did not realize was the fact that the moment I put in the keys, the lock gave away. I entered the passage and decided to head upstairs in order to clean up my parents room before making dinner for them. As I walked upstairs I saw wood and metal on the floor.... And it dawned upon me that something had gone horribly wrong...

Someone broke into our house while I was not around... broke open a steel almirah and then found keys to the other almirah... opened up my mom's locker and took away all the gold my mom ever owned along with some cash... the damage was apparent... he dint leave my room and my bro's room either... the person(s) threw all our stuff onto the floor... He took every little box I had and emptied it out...

The mess he made was incredible... apart from stealing our posessions... what the person also stole was our sense of comfort and security. I have heard of burglaries, and I know they leave you hurt and confused, what I did not know was that it would leave me with seething anger... so much so that if I find the person I am ready to physically beat the crap out of him/them.

I cant help but go over the whole event over and over again, I wish I had called my parents and told them once more that I was not spending the night at home... I wish I had put in the other lock... (especially considering the fact that, the whole of saturday afternoon the thought of not putting the second lock had been nagging me!) I know I am to blame entirely for this fiasco... I cannot believe that my stupidity cost my mom all her jewellery... the jewellery she has collected with care over the last 20 years.... Not something you want to have hanging over your head!

Sleep is almost impossible... everytime I enter my room I almost choke with the knowledge of my negligence. Had I informed my parents, they would have made sure that I put all the important stuff in a safer place and then even when the BASTARDS walked in my house they wouldnt have got hold of anything...

my weekend...

50!!! And still going strong… So for the fifty-first post I was wondering if I should write about something significant, or something witty and humorous or just stuff off my head. So instead I decided to write about my weekend.

I was in Bangalore this weekend. I think it was a perfect weekend. Reached early morning by train and went to A’s, and I have to say A and P have set up their house pretty well. We were hungry and I wanted to watch a movie. So we decided to go watch Juno. It was a good movie, a good start to the weekend. We stuffed ourselves with absolute junk and went around the mall shopping. I have to say though, that I did not find anything significant that I would want to buy. We went to Commercial Street – lunched and shopped. On our way back we picked up grocery and beverages for the evening. I made pasta, which turned out fine… (Despite their constant nagging about the amount of butter and cheese I used) We also watched Pink Panther – the movie.

Next day was a lazy Sunday. We went out for breakfast at Café Terra. I had scrambled eggs, toast, sausages, grilled potatoes, grilled tomato and waffles. I think it took me the rest of the day to recover from the breakfast. Next we went to lifestyle and needless to say more shopping. We then went to Bangalore Central, ate lunch, shopped, went to Garuda and shopped some more… And then it was time for me (us) to leave (already!!!!!!!!!!)

So that was my (read our) great weekend and this weekend am going to Goa with family. Will update you on that one too.

I wanted to thank A & P for the great weekend I (nah… “WE”) had.

At Last Shrugged...

Well this is not news as it happens… But news as and when it can be reported.

Last night at about 9 ‘o’ clock Me finally finished Atlas Shrugged (whoops of joy….). Me has struggled with her mind for I think more than a month in order to finish the book. But her determination gave away every time she got to the crux of the book – The JOHN GALT speech. After she was finished with the speech it took Me no time to finish the book.

The book is considered a classic, a literary masterpiece. Me believes it to be one of the best books she has ever read. The world and the characters Ayn Rand has created are both real and unreal at the same time. The world – well you have seen glimpses of it time and again and the characters – well… it’s the stuff you have read about in History books and sometimes in newspapers.

There will be more on the book in the coming issues.

On the other front related with the book, claim has been laid for the book - the claimant may collect the book, whenever convenient for him. The book will lie in wait for its next connoisseur.

This is I reporting from Karimnagar for Fountainhead… I will now sign over to Hyderabad.

Spotted!!!

Well... I made a decision that I would not post another entry till I finished Atlas Shrugged... but then I dont think I will be finishing it anytime soon... I have reached the mental block where in I am unable to read more than three pages at a time (sigh...)

There are just about another 150 pages to go... hopefully I will be done soon.

Actually I decided to post this entry after I spotted an owl on the Mango tree near my bedroom window... I have the pics but am unable to find them... Will post them ASAP

It finally happened!!!

Every year, at the start of summer I wait for something to happen....
N this year was no exception... I was waiting to get up to the sound of a "Koel" cooing in the morning. Well it was not exactly morning, but today while watering the plants in the evening I did hear a koel singing :)
So finally summer's happened to me....

Rang Barse....

I absolutely love Holi…. It has not been the same every time. When we were kids we played Holi along with our didi’s and bhaiyas they had sooo much fun, in those days coming to the colony for Holi was the best fun ever. Every one congregated at the park and had fun. There would be the usual music, mithai and lots and lots of colors…..

But as time passed by all the didis and bhaiyas left and now we come under that category and unfortunately not many of there actually I find myself quite alone…. This year I asked my brother to invite his friends over… n boy did we have fun!!! Akshat n I got up early and filled up these small balloons with water – took us about 2 hours to fill around 80 or 90 of them. Every time one of his friends came over we would hit them with the water balloons (we missed half of the time though... he... he...)

By 12.30 I was completely exhausted and all I could think of was to get cleaned and so I left my brother and his friends to enjoy…. A long bath and a good lunch and haven’t slept so soundly in such a long time…. (It was bliss)

Of course what’s Holi without the gujiyas and the kanji wadas (yummy)… mom is awesome in this department ….. N yes by now its high time I hit the gym… have had a long vacation by now (strangely I don’t feel too guilty about it though)

Blissfully exhausted...

Adi called up last night and asked me to be at simi's place by 6.30 in the morning, I thought he was nuts... whos gonna get up at 5.30 in the morning and drive 20 kms to treck in the jungle on a SUNDAY morning?????????

Well "me" ofcourse!!!!!!!!!!!!!! coz me a nut tooo (he..he..he)

And it was a morning well spent (i am so happy)..... atleast better than sweating it out on a treadmill. We went to our university. I love the place, there are just too many fond memories. As soon as I enter the campus the time spent during my stay comes hurrying towards me and stays with me till long after I have left....

The whole while we walked (thats adi, siraj, simi n me....) the only things we could talk about was how beautiful the place is and why is it that we dont do this more often. Since the monsoons the place has become quite dense and considering that we could not find the path that led us inside, and it was obvious that not many people had been there in a long time. We had to crawl through (and i mean quite literaly we were on our fours trying to get past the thorny bushes) And as usual we were on the look out for snakes, bees and wasps - the general flora and fauna we usually encounter. In our past adventures we have come across snakes, peacocks and to our amazement a tortise tooo. It was a good thing we didn't encounter anything dangerous this time round. The thorns did enough damage as it is. We climbed the rocks (these are actually mini hillocks and not very easy to climb). Its not funny when you are trying to jump from one rock to another and there is a gap between the two... and the drop is ateast fifty feet down.... But then, when has that ever stopped us (all we need is two guys to pull us up and help us down) .

I think of all the trips we have made up the cascade ( its a brick wall built to keep the water from the lake flooding the rest of the place during the monsoons) around the lake (here is where we do our major crawling and ofcourse all the monkeying around on the trees) and then through the grass lands (thats where we follow the freshly made tracks by the buffaloes - if you know what I mean) finally to the rocky areas ( where we do most of the climbing and show of our athletic.... nah... gymnastic skills)........ This was the best ever.

Kodak Moment !

I saw an old couple yesterday... the whole scene was sooo adorable...

Why?????

This was on my way back home yesterday... had an okay day n was in a hurry to get back home, n the traffis sucks was getting completely irritated with the poisnous fumes and the honking that generally tends to submerge every other sound within itself, n I see an old couple - may not be that old - uncle looked like he was atleast in the early 60's. He had white hair and was wearing a kurta paijama - I think it was off-white. on the other hand aunty had pepperd hair and she was wearing a bright red saree, but what really caught my fancy was that - both were on a scooty, aunty was riding it and uncle was sitting behind holding for his dear life... the whole scene was just too cute (a phrase that i seem to borrow from my boss).

I wishI had a camera then n there, but then now that I have my own pensieve I really dont need to worry now, do I ?!?!?!
